Yu is an experienced art educator. She serves as a teaching artist at the Museum of Chinese in America and at public libraries, where she leads workshops in Chinese art, arts and crafts, and creative techniques. At MOCA, she leads the MOCACreate family program, engaging visitors of all ages in hands-on art experiences that celebrate Chinese culture.

Origami helps children develop their reading and writing skills. I taught the students how to make bookmarks, autumn leaves, hearts, envelopes, flowers, and turn themselves into mini paper dolls.

“Build Your Own Chinatown” is an art game created by Yu for kids. Through engaging in artistic activities such as practicing Chinese art, designing clothings, and sculpturing pots and vases, kids not only create but also learn about the rich cultural heritage of China.
